Since we, as a people, were robbed of a Ryan Gosling red carpet moment at the Golden Globes and Gosling was robbed, arguably, of an Oscar nomination, Hollywood’s most-watched style guy has been MIA for weeks. We are happy to report that he of the silk scorpion-embroidered jacket has turned up and is still killing it. Halfway around the world in Thailand, Gosling showed up at the opening of the Hua Hin International Film Festival rocking a perfect-fitting slick Gucci grey suit ensemble that would drive even Don Draper to make an appointment with his tailor. We say welcome back, sir.

The fine folks at Pendleton’s Portland Collection not only had crazy good things on display at ENK, but were doling out fuzzy little sacks of magic… let us explain. Wool meeting whiskey, Pendleton whiskey that is (no relation), in this mini-bar-sized bottle and bag combo that we’ll be holding onto, break-in-case-of-emergency style, for the foreseeable future. Fashion Week got you down?

It’s not the first time we’ve said it: black-on-black faced watches are having a big moment. They’re superslick and you can wear one with just about anything. The reason we love this vintage Tag Heuer is that sharp square dial. The size is also just right–heavy-duty without sacrificing style. And while the vintage one is a little more distinctive, the new Monza is just as stellar.

Not psyched about waiting in line, outside, for your favorite burger? Then get up to Prime Burger on 51st and 5th right around the corner from St. Pats cathedral. Opened in 1938 and still family-owned, Prime has great burgers (handmade every morning with ground beef from their purveyor in the Bronx) as well as killer onion rings (made in-house) and the seating arrangement is genius. Of course, you can opt for table or counter service, but I prefer the single seats with the swing-out tray table. More airline-inspired than traditional diner, it’s great if you’re a single diner or more than one. As if those weren’t selling points, Prime Burger even received a James Beard award in 2004 for being one of America’s classic restaurants. Though I never order anything except the cheeseburger and fried onions, I have to say the BLT and club sandwich look great too.

Los Angeles-based interior designer Trip Haenisch has done homes for a top-notch celeb clientele, but he believes everyone should have access to the best (yeah, we know, what a generous dude). Each month on the Eye, he’ll share finds from his projects and the day-to-day grind, culling his picks in art, photography, furniture, accessories and more. Some items come cheap, cool and practical, while others are true investments. Regardless of price or taste level, Haenisch is all about buying well, and focusing on quality pieces you’ll actually enjoy having around. That’s why we kinda like having him around.

Far more than a fresh coat of paint, NYC’s John Lobb boutique on Madison Avenue unveiled its new look last night and we have to say the redesign does its job, forcing your attention to the unparalleled craftsmanship of the shoes on display (as if we were looking away before). Every Lobb shoe is truly an artisanal work of art and below are some of our favorites, available now in the spanking new store.

The New York trade shows have come and gone (you may have noticed a post here and there) and our final stop this season was the veteran ENK, whose mix of classic sportswear brands and up-and-comers gave us even more to look forward to in the coming months. Our top picks from the show here…

Walk-Over
One of our favorite contrast-soled buck brands goes to the dusty side. The suede shoes are refined enough to pair with any summer suit but would look perfectly laid back with a pair of jeans.

This was not your typical Go-See—actually, Olga Tavarez isn’t a model at all. The co-star of the CW’s new modeling agency-makeover show, Remodeled, Olga has a champion’s resume: 14 years in the fashion biz, a contributing entertainment editor for V magazine, agent for top modeling agencies like DNA and IMG, and current VP of the Network agency. During our chat, this native New Yorker let us in on the secret to scoring a date: Just ask. (Easy, right?) And don’t get caught sweet-talking anyone other than that person-of-interest: “Flirt with the waitress, and I’ll walk out!” I love her fiery personality. See her in action on Remodeled every Wednesday night.

Missed all the market action these past few weeks? Our friends at two of the world’s premiere trade shows PROJECT, and (capsule) hit us with these videos chronicling their New York installments. Daps and hugs to all involved in making these things go off big; they get better every season.
